Meet Fischie and Matui aka Maddie
We received a call in March 2020 from family members when the owner of 5 dogs suddenly died in a traffic accident. We were able to help get three pure-bred dogs placed in breed specific rescues (thanks to PACC911 and other Friends) but two elderly mixed breed girls were not accepted by any of the rescues...So we took them.
Matui (above right) who now called Maddie, had an ongoing ear infection which took weeks and multiple medications but has been treated. However the 9 year old was not allowing other dogs near her initially. It took a year, but she has integrated into our pack...
Sadly several months after her arrival Fischie, the 13 year old (left) began having seizures and we rushed her to our 24 hour Vet in Tucson in the middsle of the night. She was found to have Insulinoma, a deadly form of pancreatic cancer. Even with hospitalization, Fischie passed in early January 2021. We miss her greatly....
